Maxie attended school at Papunya in the early ‘60s and High School at Nightcliff in Darwin, NT. He settled down in Papunya where he worked as a bus, tractor driver and Police Tracker. Began painting in 1980 as a pupil of the highly acclaimed and senior artist Old Mick Tjakamarra and exhibited with Dinny Nolan and Eunice Napangardi. Maxie developed, refined and mastered the flicked style of background infilling, which now has many imitators.
