Naata Nungurrayi, a high profile artist and past winner of the National Aboriginal art award, was born at Kumil, west of the Pollock Hills in Western Australia and now lives at Kintore. She is the mother of Kenny Williams Tjampitjinpa, and her brother is George "hairbrush" Tjungurrayi, and sister Nancy Ross Nungurrayi.
She began painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 1996 and her exhibitions include 'Minyma Tjukurrpa' (1995), 'Twenty-five Years and Beyond' (1999) and the Papunya Tula - Genesis and Genius' in 2000. In the year 2002 she participated in the Telstra National Aboriginal art Award and received a special commendation for her work.Naata Nungurrayi

Desciption maybe a bit vulgar but this painting is a real "gut wrenching tear jerker"! Painted in 2001, Naata depicts the journies of the Tingari women ancestors, (the U shapes) back in the Dreamtime.
