One of the best aspects of art dealing is meeting the artists and being with eunice was a great honour. She was always happy despite her illnesses and her warm smile was always nice to see. She was a hard worker generously bringing up her grandson Cory. I was much grieved by her much to soon passing and the art world was left with a huge hole as she was very popular and by far the best Bush banana artist.
Born at Yuendumu, north of Papunya, Eunice is the sister of Pansy and Alice Napangati, and Rene Robinson Napangati. The sisters share several custodial stories and are all prominent painters. Eunice was married for many years to the late Kaapa Tjampitjinpa, one of the founders of the Desert Art Movement at Papunya. Working alongside Kaapa and later Maxi Tjampitjinpa (qv) (her second husband) provided Eunice with the opportunity to become one of the first Aboriginal women artists to emerge from the desert. She has since become one of the most significant women artists.
